Can't use the Hu anymore after learning the truth

I can't see the HU as an ancient name for God anymore and I feel furious!  Just finished the book today & quit Eckankar today too.  I liked your positive goal setting techniques in Part IV..thanks.  Not ready to join another group yet..wondering if this new group will be more "supportive" than Eck was..it seems many in Eck were afraid to support each other, afraid to take on each other's karma sort of energy..I never bought into the Mahanta consciousness nor the Jesus consciousness, thank God, but I've forgotten how to pray, depending so much on the HU as a love song to God..I know the God in me knows I meant well.  Gotta find me a new vibration that fills my heart with joy again.  Thanks for the insight.  Sometimes the truth hurts.  Love always,

I Once Was Lost But Now Am Found

I believe that metaphysics is a bridge to Eckankar as Eckankar is a bridge to Higher Consciousness. Eckankar is merely a stepping stone, as are other religions, in the plus factor of spiritual growth. Unfortunately, many Eckists will never read Ford's book out of fear. Fear of giving up Eck friends, fear of change, fear of being cast into astral hells, and fear of being duped again or of even trying to find a replacement for Eckankar. Many will continue to look to the Mahanta (on the inner) because it is tried and true for them. If it's not broke why fix it? But, if Eckists will look at Harold's behavior then "as above so below" must have some meaning! Would even 2nd initiate Jesus have turned a blind eye to plagiarism? Are the comments about the postal clerk in the 09/03 "H.I. Letter" loving or even kind? I am not saying that Harold is bad or a less valuable Soul, but I am  saying that he is no more or less than you or me. Perhaps, these same followers of the Mahanta need to look up the definition of Mahanta in the Eck Lexicon. It is not just the Mahanta consciousness that they follow and trust in, but also the outer Living Eck Master according to the definition. All of us can share now in the "Mahanta" Consciousness (a rose is still a rose by any other name). It (It)doesn't belong to any one Soul! I Am is spiritual freedom! A weight, that had kept me down, has been lifted from me, and my confinement is now gone. I hardly realized the weight was there until it was gone! I Am truly grateful and blessed in Truth/God/Love and Now. We are all one with Divine Spirit... we just have to demonstrate It.

What I Learned From Reading Confessions: My Personal Testimonial

Dear Friends,

When I first heard about this book soon to be released by Ford Johnson, I was anticipating it's purchase. I had no idea about it's content. Then another eck leader said that she heard that Ford had left eckankar. I was uncertain about this information and began to dig deeper. After checking out the web site for the book and reading the release info there, I was more curious than ever.
It was more than 2 months before the book was finally available. When it arrived I absorbed the info to the best of my ability. Needless to say, it was difficult to digest. I struggled with the insights gained as the underlying truth was laid bare. It tore at me in an unrelentless fashion. Things that I had suspicion about .... things that I would previously refuse to consider .... rumors and unpleasant whisperings that I could not allow myself to entertain, these and many more, all came crashing down on me in a form of truth that I could no longer ignore.
The next few weeks following , after I had finished Confessions, I was in turmoil over my next move. I knew I could no longer represent eckankar with what I deemed to be truthful and factual information. At this point I had not talked with another eck member about what this book had revealed to me. Perhaps I was still suffering from this "protective mode "when it came to any derogatory information about this path. After all; I had just spent the last 33 years of my life studying, believing and promoting eckankar as the highest and most direct path to god consciousness in existence. I began teaching satsangs in 1973, and have been active in every capacity since that date. I had joined eckankar when Paul was still the LEM.

I'm one of those people who would testify to the reality of the inner worlds, out-of body travel, inner dream guidance, the whole nine yards. I worked at proving and experiencing these realities to myself. They worked !  So it was very natural to help guide others to their own proof. But .... it was all with credit to the love , protection and guidance of our " inner and outer " master.
Even though at times I wanted to shout at others who could not make the simplest decision on there own, instead of needing a sign from above ," or from within ", before any action could be taken on thier part ( and it was to such an extreme in one case that I actually got a phone call from an eckists asking if she should wait on inner confirmation before going out to get groceries ). I really wanted to blast her on that .... but instead encouraged her to make her own decision, or wait until she was really hunger.
Perhaps most of us have had , or agreed upon some form of spiritual dependancy and have allowed ourselves to become so complacent that we really don't see or recognize the state of spiritual lethargy that has crept into our lives. Confessions shocked me into a greater awareness of my personal responsibility for my spiritual advancement. I'm extremely gratefull to Ford for putting himself out there with this book. Although it initially was devasting to hear , it ultimately brought me to a much better place.
So, after weeks of digesting and coming to terms with my new view of eckankar, understanding more clearly what I must do to remain true to myself and my pursuit of truth, I decided that I would fulfill my commitment and conduct my last worship service, following which I would announce to all that were in attendance, that I was resigning immediately from any further assocaiation with eckankar. It was a tough decision, but in good conscience, I felt there was no other choice.
However ........ things don't always go as planned.
Prior to the beginning of the service , we were engaged in informal chatting that turned to the latest happenings between several eck members and the local director. Tears began to flow as one member talked about the treatment she received from the local director. Verbal abuse with threats of physical assault were what she received as a way of controlling her desire to talk to newcomers without prior consent from the local director.
Several similar events were reported to me within a few minutes prior to conducting this last worship service. All were now engaged in asking me what should be done ? ...... Is this what eckankar has come to ?  ..... How can an eck leader behave in such a manner ? .....etc. etc.
Well ........ instead of conducting the service as I had planned, and announcing my resignation following, it seemed that Spirit had set the stage to make the annoucement in another fashion. I began by telling them of the book that I had recently read and how it altered my view of the organization of eckankar. The insights gained , coupled with my own previously unvoiced uncertainties, an entirely new perspective was revealed. The short story  ........... I could no longer remain a member and promoter of a path that I believed was not representing the truth.
This annoucement lasted more than an hour .  Before leaving the building and turning over my keys , nearly everyone present asked to borrow my copy of Confessions. It has been on loan now for about 6 weeks. To date I know of approximately 10 others here in my area who have submitted their resignation from eckankar, some without even reading the book. Many were HI's.  Others have stated that they will just allow their membership to lapse when renewal time ocurrs.
Most , upon hearing about my decision to leave , where stunned by my announcement simply because of the length of time of my involvemement and the dedication that I had maintained in every aspect of service for this path. There had to be something awfull powerfull within the pages of Confessions to bring about such a response from me ...... so was their thinking ..... and they were right !
Hopefully, I have given a veiw of how the truth revealed in this book has focused a brighter light into the darker areas of path that many , including myself, have always thought to be above it all. ( MANY OF IT'S INCONSISTANCIES ASIDE ! ) I truly hope that others also help to make Confessions available to other souls who have allowed themselves to be deceived by Fool's Gold.

Thanks Ford , for a job well done.

The importance of being a conscious, active Creator

My attention has been drawn lately to the importance of being an active, conscious, intentional Creator.  The truth is that we are creating all that we experience, whether the small stuff or the big time stuff.  This includes illnesses, "car accidents," minor "snafus," ALL of it.
What I am creating daily, moment by moment, I am doing so either unintentionally, unconsciously, by default (by which is meant I am letting someone else create an experience for me because I am not awake or belief they have more power than I have).  When I look at others' creations, for example observing from watching the TV news, I frankly see mostly yucky stuff being created.  This adds to the downward pull of consciousness on this planet, because it adds negative energy to negative energy with a compounding effect.
So, it is important, not just for "selfish" purposes, to objectively observe the results of my creations.  Do I feel more joy in living each day?  or more helpless and the victim of all the outer unhappiness around me?  If I am intentionally creating joy and happiness within me and my little world, it will spill over onto others and bless them, uplift them a little, and make this planet a little happier for being here.  So, I'm either adding to the negative cesspool or the wellspring of joy and happiness.
Being a coworker with Spirit doesn't mean letting go and letting Spirit do it all.  Have you ever had a coworker who came to you for solutions for every issue, answers for every question?  What a drag!!!!!  Please notice that the middle word in the word "coworker" is WORK!!!!!!  That doesn't mean struggle, sweat, strenuous physical activity.  It merely means to me DOING MY PART which is to wake up, stay awake, and actively and deliberately create the inner feeling experience of love, joy and happiness.  The more I do this, the easier it becomes.
Love, joy and happiness are the STATE OF MY BEING, NOT JUST THE STATE OF MY FEELING.  It is the TRUTH OF ME, Who I AM.
Love to you all.

Another Look At "Confessions of A God Seeker"

On January 20, 2004, I posted my first message to the Bulletin Board wherein I expressed the opinion I was in "...no hurry to jump from Eckankar."  In the entry, I noted Harold recentered the Eck teachings on love and compassion, and that, to me, was not something that could easily be set aside.  Indeed, I still think about that, but some significant changes have occurred in my sense of it all.

Now, having said that about Harold and the teachings of love, I think Ford Johnson's contribution may be vastly greater, and it may be years before that contribution is truly appreciated.  Basically, with his Higher Consciousness path, he may have advanced the art and science of spiritual practice more than anyone in the last 100 years.  His contribution culls out the remaining myths of a spiritual life and uncovers the hidden power struggles in many other paths.  Then he boldly brings forth a composite of sound spiritual principles into the light of scientific inquiry with his discussion of holographic images and quantum physics.  Such a step takes this further than a dangerous reliance upon a controlling master.  Certainly, "more meat has be to put on the bones", as they say, but rest assured, more books will be written to better illuminate this path, and I hazard a guess most of them will come from us, not a spiritual guru.

The detractors of Ford's contribution will center their polemics on his resentment of having had shabby treatment at the hands of the "Mahanta".  But like many on-going arguments in this time, whether political, social or economic, it is not sufficient to take one side or the other.  One has as great responsibility in this day and age as ever before to weigh the true facts about each side, apply sound, objective logical reasoning, and make up their own mind, especially with the help of their inner guide, which I now realize is my God-soul.  This responsibility is particularly true in dealing with the book, "Confessions...".

People forget Ford's book was written as a personal testament of his experience, which, as in real life, are usually recounted chronologically as a journey.  In my appreciation of what it takes to write a book, I could conceive of no other way Ford could have included all that was in it than if he had written it just as he did.  Some might dispute that assessment, claiming his book is really about his anger, righteous indignation and trashing Eckankar, and only incidentally about a new spiritual path.  Or, it was about the new path to annoint himself as the chosen one so he could enjoy the power that the "beloved" Harold possesses.  Of course, all that's laughable.

Here's why: the book is several stories/subjects in one.  The first story is obviously his experience in Eckankar and the problems, leading up to his connection with Graham Forsythe, which in its climax, directs him to leave Eckankar.  It's a personal story with the necessary emotions that go along with it.  The second story is basically his research into Paul Twitchell, which wanders into the unveiling of other eastern paths and the Judeo-Christian teachings.  The third is his careful and systematic discovery/research of a path to God that is as free of power influences and religious obfuscation as perhaps any spiritual philosophy has ever been.  His last, finally, is his discussion of this Higher Consciousness path and how one would practice it.

Most of the criticism he/HCS receives, if one closely tracks the comments, parade out onto the Bulletin Board as denials of what Eckankar had been and now still is.  Because of these Eckists' heightened anguish and emotion, they attack Ford's intentions attributing his anguished emotions from the first story as vindication that his motives are ulterior.  As for me, I admit in the beginning I saw a little of the Harvard attorney coming out in Ford as if he seemed to relish too much being the whistle blower.  But if you seriously read about his trek through this period of his life, measuring all that he's come forth with (which is a lot) and understand this book is his personal tale as a seeker in search of his own path, you realize emotions can't be his motive.  Remember, he's not a career researchist on spirituality having written a shelf full of books like, say, Joseph Campbell.   He's a Washington consultant and business owner, among other things.  Writing a book is just too darn hard.  He's doing just fine living out his life, manifesting boats (teasing), following a path none of us would have figured out.  It would have been easy for him to privately think, "The heck with them, I got mine." Sure, writing "Confessions..." is cathartic and helpful to his psyche, but it's an entire book, for gosh sakes!  He would have been much better off journaling or writing pages for a week or month and gotten over it.

If the book had been published into separate ones, criticisms might have been more muted, and this website Bulletin Board might not have had 23 sections of comments.  But, as I previously made the case, the book probably wouldn't have ever made it to the publishers if he had had to write 3-4 separate books.  In this case, the saying that's very apropo is simply this:  Ford's book is what it is.  And it's up to each one of us, Eckists or not, to undertake for the time one needs to read the book, "Confessions of a God Seeker", the effort of standing in his shoes and becoming the seeker Ford was when he penned it.

I guarantee you won't lose the spiritual gains you've achieved in Eckankar.  I do believe you will experience a necessary stretching of your spiritual muscles.  Remember, in "Stranger by the River" (p. 192), Paul writes very presciently through Rebazar's dialogue, "God is what ye believe IT is.  No man is wrong about the existence of God, and yet no man is right about his knowledge of God.  There is no mystery in God except that IT  is what each Soul believes that IT is."

I, for one, will never discount what a magnificent deed Ford, just a regular guy, has accomplished with this book.

Thanks for the opportunity to post,

Bluebird

Response to Stig (3/31/04): What isThe Spiritual Purpose of Life

Dear Stig:

Your question is an interesting one, and I am sure others have pondered it inwardly, though not expressed it outwardly.  One of the best ways that I might help bring an understanding to this concept of Soul coming to the lower worlds to learn is to bring into focus the partnership between the microcosm and the macrocosm.

The macrocosm, or ALL THAT IS, is all that is.  In Its quest for expansion of awareness, It is left with the most unique dilemma there is; because it is ALL THAT IS, It cannot experience anything outside of itself.  The alternative then, is to create the environment by which it can gain experience from within Itself (e.g. creation of the many subtle planes of reality including the lower worlds).  Now since ALL THAT IS is all there is, it must create those conditions under which it can gain wisdom through experience.  ALL THAT IS knows all there is to know, but much like all of us, knowing doesn’t always equate to being.  You can intellectually know something to be true, but until you experience it, it doesn’t become real to you; a part of you.

So ALL THAT IS decides to make an infinite set of microcosmic components of itself (God-Soul), with the flexibility of creating multiple experiences within itself (as Soul) to have experience throughout the simultaneity of existence.   It is here that the “knower” becomes the “doer” in order to gain wisdom and become the “be-er”.  Through our experience, God experiences and grows, and the cycle goes on and on into eternity.

So you see, it’s more about the experiential aspect of existence than anything else.  When we come into the lower worlds in human or other forms, the veil is placed over us so that we can discover what we already know, and thereby gain the wisdom through the experience.

If you have any question as to how God experiences, simply ask yourself how you experience, for you are a microcosm of the macrocosm of ALL THAT IS, endowed with the same divine characteristics.  I hope this helps put things in its proper perspective.

Sincerely,

DD

Balance In All Things

A lot can be said about the word balance. The energies needed to create the world we live in come together in a pair of opposites, and no matter how different in nature, the resulting interaction of those energies (positive and negative) will balance themselves out, every time...automatically. That is one aspect of it, but the real engine behind the process is spirit which is itself a neutral force. We (souls) use it to create whatever is needed for our spiritual development. The energies must be channeled by and through the medium on the corresponding vibrational field that we operate from in any sphere of activities at the time. Soul directs the energies and being encased in a human body, it ensues that the energy must enter and flow through the body. Now all of this is automatic in nature but here is where a problem arise. We, the operators, in charge of using this 'flow' of energy, can only do so according to our level of understanding of it. Spirit is there for the taking. It wants nothing more than a knowledgeable hand to use it so it can fulfill soul’s needs. Now some are more successful at this than others. When we fail miserably, we say.... God is testing me. Why do we feel that way? We now see it as my will versus God's will. I personally don't see it that way. Spirit is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. Granted, it is more than your ordinary hammer and nail kind of tool but nevertheless that is its position vis-à-vis Soul. Spirit, although limitless in its capabilities, will not step out of its boundaries, its reason for being.  As I said at the top, this 'flow' is neutral and enters the medium which operates in a 'dualistic' sphere of action. The body split this force in order that it can create matter that correspond with the vessel that Soul (the operator) is operating from, in that time frame. Most of this is done automatically through the subconscious level of accumulated lifetimes. Therefore it meets our basic needs. Soul however wants more than this but it is working through a handicap...the human body. I'm sure if it could, it would pulverize it in an instant but it would defeat the purpose for which it created it in the first place. All this, to learn but one thing. How the tool works and its relationship to it. Spirit being so complex… is the reason why it’s taking so long for us to learn our lessons. Certainly not easy ones to master. This self-mastery business is getting to be more than we bargained for. We will get there, eventually. In the meantime, 'virtues' will have to be developed in order to learn to communicate with this 'thing'. It is a well known spiritual law that like attracts like. To get close, to get in its good favor so to speak, we must become alike in the way we operate. The problem is where we're operating from. It's all design to use our subjective side (the accumulated experiences of all our lifetimes combined) which is where we're at in our spiritual development. What is creation like outside of creation? In my view there are basically two groups. One group has attended schooling design specifically to learn about the tool that makes possible any creations. This group, (the ascended masters) have graduated and are now in a position to work hand in hand with Spirit. The other group, (most of mankind) are Souls who benefit from the life giving force but have yet to recognize their relationship to it. Their field of operation is very limited as their will is not aligned with the modus operandi of Spirit, which would otherwise give them total freedom. Their focusing on self for self- gratification is what prevents them from making any significant advances. They simply do not understand that this is precisely what distances them from this intelligent force. Through the LOVE principle, we're shown the possibilities. These benevolent Souls are constantly at our sides moving us along. What does this have to do with the state of being 'balanced'? Everything! We can be limitless in our abilities to create, only we must become as ONE with the tool that allows this to be. This tool is neutral (balanced) and shines on everybody equally.

Everyone who comes to read on this board cannot help but being influenced by other people’s views. That's the purpose of it all. I've enjoyed reading all of your posts and it helped shaped my views also. I found Ford's book to be quite enlightening to that end. Now I would like to leave you with this question. In everything that I said here, one element seem to be missing that is at the core of HCS's new paradigm which is found in this axiom;  I AM, GOD IS, WE ARE ONE. If you said 'GOD' is what's missing, you're quite correct. The way I see it is; if GOD and I are one, then it means we're the same. It's like saying; I AM, I AM, WE ARE ONE. It's overstating the fact. I, GOD, AM. There’s no question about it. However there is no doubt in my mind that something is missing in this axiom of truth which has its basis in this world of being that I, GOD, now find myself living in, and that is; Spirit. Spirit that created through my thought forms, this and every other worlds of being. Spirit is the power behind every manifestation. I AM… NOT YET ONE, with spirit, but this is the purpose of this exercise, is to master this force so that one day I can say; I AM, SPIRIT IS, WE ARE ONE.

Understand that as a truth seeker, I seek to understand this world of our own creation. These views in no way are meant to challenge HCS's views but merely to bring in additional flavor/colors to the mix. I understand that I can be totally wrong as I'm sure some of you will have no problem pointing it out. I more than welcome your views in regard to my views. Hopefully together we can stretch the horizon which is the reason we're here in the first place.

In the Spirit of learning,

GENTI,

Some Love and Compassion Quotes

"Love loves to love love." ~ James Joyce in Ulysses

The Hell Law says that Hell is reserved exclusively for them that believe in it. Further,
the lowest Rung in Hell is reserved for them that believe in it on the supposition that they'll go there if they don't.

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong.
Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.

Author: George Washington Carver

He who feels no compassion will become insane.

Author: Hasidic Saying

The reason why love and compassion bring the greatest happiness is simply that our nature cherishes them above all else. The need for love lies at the very foundation of human existence. It results from the profound interdependence we all share with one another.

- Tenzin Gyatso, The Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet

From the moment of birth every human being wants happiness and wants to avoid suffering. In this we are all the same.
- Tenzin Gyatso, The Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet

We rely so much on each other and are so interconnected that without a sense of universal responsibility, a feeling of universal brotherhood and sisterhood, and
an understanding that we really are part of one big human family, we cannot hope to overcome human suffering, let alone bring about peace and happiness.
- Tenzin Gyatso, The Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet

The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.

Toynbee

Self-hate is not Love. Compassionate self-acceptance is natural. You have to be taught to hate and fear, with a fist..Why do cults guilt their subjects into fear of feelings? WHen s/he cannot expresss appropriate anger or affection, then there is no option to say No!

Q Whan replys to Philam ( With translation)

Hello Philam

P.S.  Qui est Wison ?

          Bienvenue a HCS

Hello Philam

Thanks for taking the time to write to us and ask some very interesting questions on the subject of the Higher Self.

In your letter you asked about the connection between our Higher Self and the  presence of which can take the form of the Mahanta  in order to reveal itself to us .
I think that Ford Johnson gives a very good answer in his book:
(Confession of a truth-Seeker) and here's the reason.
Our Higher Self has to work with us in accodance with our own beliefs,
what matters is the message , it is not the messenger, the form our Higher self takes to relay messages to us is irrelevant it (Higher Self) will conform itself with your accepted beliefs and if your beliefs lie with the form of the Mahanta, then Spirit will comply automatically.

As for your question on adopting a new paradigm , well you ask a very good question.
"Must we adopt a new illusion in order to rid ourselves of an old one?"
Ford Johnson was very well aware of this problem, that by accepting a new belief as absolute could very well create the opposite effect of inprisonning us instead of liberating us  and so took a lot of time before pronouncing himself with a new paradigm
" I AM, GOD IS, WE ARE ONE"
For once you have accepted a belief weather true or false truth can then pass right under your nose and you may not be aware of it,understand?

You mentioned that all form manifesting on the inner , be they the Mahanta or your Higher Self ,  remain an illusion for you.
You may very wll be right on that , because I can't even pronounce myself with certitude on what really takes place on the inner, who pulls the cords and control what really takes place on the physical, but one thing is for sure, the formation of the physical plane originates from an energie that cannot be perceived with our physical senses and we must identify ourselves with this energie if we are to know it's origin, which in my opinion can only be Divine.
As for this Being appearing to you on the inner there is only one way to insure that it is working in your best interest and that's for you to challenge it in the name of God , if it is real it will remain if not it will dissolve  by virtue of the spiritual laws.

Some Thoughts About The BB -and - Belated Comments On Love And Fear

Been doing a little catching up here, and from some of the postings I’ve read, I feel as though a gentle reminder to all participants (myself included) might be in order.  In an earlier post dated 6/20/04, Muse wrote “While the intention of many seems to be one of Love and positive affirmation, I have also read some postings that claim to be coming from a loving place, yet at the same time there is an attacking ‘tone’ that is obvious from the wording…”

I would simply like to say that it is my hope that these boards continue to maintain the high standards that we have all become accustomed to over these many months, and that the dialogue and discourse does not degrade into something resembling A.R.E.  I don’t believe that HCS will allow that to occur anyway.  It’s fine to disagree on things, but levels of respect must be maintained.  I personally believe that this level of respect is one indicator that we are living from the higher self.  If the tone of this posting in any way seems attacking, it is not intended to be.  It is, however, respectfully intended to evoke a greater sensitivity in everyone’s level of expression.  Thank you.

On love and fear

I know the topic of love had been discussed for a couple of weeks now, but I thought that one more mention wouldn’t hurt.  I think that a helpful exercise or indicator to the aspect of love is to look at it in relation to its opposite.  Many would consider the opposite of love to be hate, but I would disagree.  In my view the opposite of love is fear.

If one were to break down every conceivable emotion that humanity is capable of feeling, I believe that all of these emotions could be grouped into one of two categories – love and fear.

Within the subset of love are emotions such as compassion, friendship, empathy, kindness, passion, happiness, and a myriad of others too numerous to mention.

Within the subset of fear are emotions such as anger, greed, selfishness, envy, pride, condescension, and yes, hatred.   I believe these emotions are subsets of fear because their negative nature engenders a threatened quality that is indicative of concern at losing something.  It’s a disconnect of spirit – a forgetting of divinity.

Love is all encompassing and inspires unity.  Fear inspires separateness and disunity.

I believe that one of the most important aspects of these two polarities is that you cannot feel love and fear simultaneously – you either feel one or the other.  Some might disagree with this, and I’d be open to hear other’s views on the subject, but this is how I have come to see it.

In the world of duality, it is necessary to have both polarities, for we could not identify one without the existence of the other.  After all is said and done, however, it is all an aspect of love, for love is the creative force, and it was through this force that the mechanisms were created by which we, as soul and God-soul can maneuver and decipher the difference between the two.  And the journey continues.

The Nature of Manifested Reality/Illusion (Part I)

Truth-Decider and others have askes a series of questions about the nature of manifestation. More specifically: How does one determine the line between what their own constructs are, and what are universal, or transcendent, unchangeable truths?

This is one of the most intriguing and important questions confronting the turth-seeker, the inner traveler, the student of esoteric wisdom. It is certainly one which I have pondered for most of my life. In fact, you may recall a statement I made Confessions on this topic:

“Truth, of course, takes many forms and exists at many levels. In the final analysis, it is what each person chooses to believe and act upon. Yet, there is the conception of eternal truth that does not bend to the whim of individual predilections. This has always intrigued me. I longed for something eternal, not a childhood construct like Santa Claus that was designed to be shattered or the dubious mythical foundations of most religious dogma. Indeed, it was this longing that propelled my initial search for spiritual truth.”

This and several related questions will be addressed in a series of postings that begin today and will run throughout the week  of 10/11/04.

Our existence, both outward and inward, is the result of a combination of forces and factors. First there is the structure of creation (the planes) emanating from ALL THAT IS. These planes, along with the universal laws that accompanied their formation as the modus operandi of creation, establish the fundamental construct to which all of our creations and experiences conform.

From our perspective as sentient occupants of this multi-dimensional universe, one could say that this represents the transcendent construct into which we were propelled into consciousness and by which our own creativity is constrained. From here, we experience life in various dimensions/planes that is built upon our collective creations and assumptions, and our individual belief paradigms, which manifest reality/illusion upon whatever plane we are working.

To better understand this, let us start from the beginning of creation from ALL THAT IS. Creation started from the state of “NO THING”. I often speak of this state because its importance can not be overemphasized if we wish to understand the nature of creation, existence, our oneness with ALL THAT IS.

The nature of your question is what is it that is the consequence of our own belief and what is there already that is not an aspect of our own creation.
We are creators within a creation. Our power to create flows from and takes place within the broad construct of the original construct, the original creation. This original creation, emanating from ALL THAT IS, propelled certain fundamental laws in motion that are fixed within this creation and reflect the modus operandi under which all subsequent creation emanated.  This created universe unfolded in planes and levels of consciousness all designed to provide the range and complexity of experiences necessary for soul to ultimately recognize and live from the consciousness of its true reality as an aspect of ALL THAT IS. Within these planes and levels of creation, the framework and rules by which creation operates within each plane are already established. Thus, everything that we experience within the inner regions is not of our own creation but a combination of a preexistent created framework into which our own creations unfolds. This is not difficult to understand for the laws of manifestation and creation in the inner worlds is a reflection of the same laws that function on every plane even though in slightly different ways. This we can call the “Law of parallels” or as it is better known “as above so below.”  Thus, there are universal laws that function within all of the created universes and govern the manner and methods of manifestation within all planes outside of the region of “No Thing”, the reside of ALL THAT IS.

The distinction between the universe of “No Thing” and the created universe is quite important because it stands in stark contrast to the typical construct of paths like Radhasoami and its progeny like Eckankar that draw a distinction between the pure God worlds and the worlds of duality. Presumable, beyond the worlds of duality, no law prevails except the law of Love. This is to some degree true, but not because this is the only law that prevails but rather because this is the only law that those who function in these regions choose to act from.  Thus, within the universe created by ALL THAT IS, the basic law from which all others derive is the Law of Unity (The Law of the One). The two derivative laws on which all other are based are the      Law of Spirit and the Law of Soul and God Soul.  Note that the Law of Love is not singled out as a separate law because it is more accurately an aspect of the law of spirit, defining as it does the modus operandi of this vehicle of creation. Laws such as the law of Cause and Effect are also derivative of the Law of Spirit, and in this case is an aspect of the law of Love. Thus, we can say that there are three primary laws (the trinity if you will) even though they derive from the ONE law. Thus, to your question of whether there are laws that are fixed or transcendent as far as our capacity to create with the worlds of ALL THAT IS, the answer is yes.
These laws work regardless of belief, for they are the foundation on which all experiences and creations emerge. For example, the law of cause and effect is an inescapable part of the worlds of duality which define all creation and existence beyond the region of “No Thing.” The equivalent of this state as we can experience it is the “I AM” state.  As indicated earlier, the traditional notion of the worlds of duality and those of non-duality (above the soul plane) is questioned, for all creation is an aspect of the reality/illusion emanating from ALL THAT IS.  By concept, logic and experience there is uniform agreement on the point that planes emerged from out of each succeeding plane denser in matter, slower in vibration and lower in consciousness state.  These were creations within THE creation and proceeded from the originating impulse of creation and/or through the aid of sentient beings who were part of the originating creation, functioning within these laws. Creation below and outside of the “No Thing” state all require the inter-action of the two forces and the third reconciling force (positive, negative and neutral)  to support creation.  For, on every plane, learning and expansion of awareness is taking place. From all that can be discerned about ALL THAT IS, from an understanding of its progeny, God-soul, this conclusion seems inescapable. If so, then it is only within the context of duality that spiritual awareness expands.  Learning requires choice and an understanding of the consequences of opposite choices. It is choice that leads to an expansion of awareness to the level where we are able to know directly. We learn how to flow with the originating vibration of creation and also learn how to move into and out of the originating state of “No Thing.”
And even the idea of omniscience is often misunderstood. We are omniscient because “we are the answer” and all answers and knowledge exists within our being, now. The problem is we have not yet connected the dots to see the truth that is in front of, around, within and is us always. We are like the man who having heard about the wonders of a thing called a nose, set about to find one.  He searched all corners of the globe and into inner planes in search of this wonder. But, alas it could not be found until he stopped, slowed down, and took a deep breath at which point he realized…………..

There is so much in esoteric writing that has been accepted as gospel because we have been brainwashed to believe in the divinity of others without recognizing our own capacity to tap the wonders of the universe of ALL THAT IS.  Others felt comfortable making such proclamations because they understood and lived from the realization of their oneness with ALL THAT IS. Some told us that we had the same capacity but most did not. That is why the NSP and its promulgation throughout the world is so important. Some have argued (Paul Twitchell in his writings) that it is dangerous for many to learn these secrets of their being for it carries with it a power that might be abused. In light of what we have learned about religions and paths, most would agree that this is a decision that no one should make for them. We must now have the courage to take a fresh look at what they were saying with the confidence of knowing that the truth lies with you as it does with ever sentient being.  Thus, it is imperative that the truth-seeker question, search, experience and look within for answers knowing that all such insight is interim for as we grow in awareness, our capacity to understand the things we thought we understood will also grow and deepen. This applies to these writings as it does to those of any one else. However, we also cannot live with everything in flux constantly changing. There is truth to the concept of “rest points in eternity.”  So settle with an idea and allow it into your paradigm for now but only so long as your inner guidance has not led you to another more workable and higher truth.  Together we will connect the dots and share the insights gained on the journey. That is the vision of HCS, a community of individual, independent souls who share and work together for their own growth and unfoldment and for the benefit of and to share that wisdom with others.

Reflections of a Higher Song

So,

It's interesting how certain aspects can tend to line-up. A funny thing  happened after my last little mini catharsis/revelation on perspective  harmonization. While on my way to the place I am presently employed, a song  came on the radio. It was the song "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia. It's  strange, but the song really moved me at the time. It was mainly the  chorus;

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed bound and broken on the floor You're a little late, I'm already torn

The intresting thing was, how the song seemed to line-up perfectly with how  I was feeling at the time. It made me realize, that whether the artist  realizes it or not, Music becomes integral to the Current (consider the  alternative of that word) Consciousness. The songwriter may have a  completely different objective perspective for the intention of the song.  But then, it can speak so loudly for someone else when contemplating an  entirely different aspect.

The "faith' in the lyric that I was all out of, is what the NSP has allowed  us to move away from. There needn't be any faith in the certain outward  forms and constructs, so frequently discussed. That realization, moved me  to tears at the time, again in combination with DD's exposition on 'where do  we go from here?' in recognition of ourselves as God-soul.

I believe that , the music that can be struck outwardly is primarily to  inspire one to those inner contemplative states and perhaps be captured even  momentarily by the unstruck music within, to be carried to even Higher  states of awareness.

Happy Listening to All God-soul(s)

Le Olam,

Part II -- The Nature of Manifested Reality/Illusion (Cont. from Part I 10/10/04)

(Part II) The Nature of Manifested Reality/Illusion

There is no simple answer to interpreting and defining where one is, what one is experiencing, and who is doing the creating while in the inner worlds. It is indeterminate and incapable of the precision that we are fortunate to experience in the physical dimension. This brings us to an important point as it relates to interpreting inner experiences. Recently I was rereading a book by Ken Wilbur a highly respected American Philosopher who has written extensively on the “transpersonal” experience (inner experience). He breaks experiences into “pre-personal” (those we can experiences with the senses), “personal” (those we can understand and experience with logic and the mind) and “transpersonal” (those that relate to spirit or inner experiences of what ever nature.)  What is interesting about his writings on this point is the recognition of what he calls the pre/trans fallacy of interpreting transpersonal experiences with the same logic, meaning and significance that we utilize in describing personal experiences, a point that has been presented several times on this BB and in Confessions.  Those who have an inner experience with Jesus, Harold Klemp or anyone else and to whom the images and experiences seem as real as in the physical are very prone to make this mistake and treat these inner experiences with the same gravitas that they would give to outer experiences. This is indeed an error. We must always question, sense, and view all experiences from the I AM state, the common sense perspective from which this ultimate expression of our beingness functions. This is the I AM, or what I sometimes refer to as the No Thing state for it is what and who we are before we make the plunge into reality/illusion and identify with a state of consciousness thus setting in motion the chain of events that define the context for our next learning experience.

We will return to this concept of No Thing again in a moment but first let us consider how the laws of manifestation have parallels on all planes even though there are uniquenesses that relate to a particular plane. We have seen how every thing, situation or manifestation in the physical world takes place within a preexistent creation or manifestation which set the parameters for a new manifestation. But lets look at this more closely for it has far reaching implications. For example, a home that is built within a subdivision occurs within a preexistent construct, in this case a community that conforms to zoning laws. Within the house itself, the occupants create their environment within the construct of the house which has its own limitations and opportunities. If we closely examine every situation in which we find ourselves, everything that we do and every creative aspect of our lives takes place within the framework of a preexistent creation into which our creation must flow and must conform.

This same principles govern our inner experiences and inner created realities but differ in the speed and level of effort required to manifest. Thus, there are cities and regions and other preexistent structures on each plane created through the action of spirit propelled by the originating creation of ALL THAT IS.  As in the physical universe, we participate in an outer world which represents the collective creations of all sentient beings while simultaneously living within an inner consciousness, our own inner world. This is the abode of imagination, the space that is ours alone and is the originating point for all creations that we contribute to the collective reality in which we live every day. A parallel to this also exists in the inner worlds where we share a collective reality that is the result of the creations of beings whose contributions predate our experience. This is the world into which and to which our own inner creations must conform.  Even as we experience these inner worlds and instantly flow out creations into the collective “space” we retain our individual imaginations and inner world and are able to experience the unique emanations of our own thoughts much as we do in the physical when we are dreaming or actively visualizing something we wish to manifest.

We can distinguish these inner and outer realities regardless of the plane on which we are having an experience. The “waking dream” that we sometimes experience within the inner worlds has the same characteristics as the wake state in the physical. It proceeds within a logical framework and we are consciously aware of what we are experiencing. Our description of these experiences is often characterized by drawing comparisons to their similarity to physical world experiences in their clarity and outer reality. Within these experiences, we can also create and contribute to this reality through our own creative faculties. These creations out-picture much faster [than]  in the physical. We can move into and out of these inner/outer manifestations by thought which sometimes causes them to take on the air of unreality because we are able to shift our conscious awareness so quickly.

Within these “inner” planes we are still capable of having experiences within our own “private” inner universes. These experiences take on the chaotic nature often associated with symbolic dreams. They are fragmented in nature pulling parts of past experiences and past acquaintances into a drama that is unique in its admixture of components and unfolding drama. These experiences are controlled by the higher self that weaves experiences necessary to balance, teach, enlighten and expand our awareness of ourselves and our oneness with ALL THAT IS.

You have probably noted that this description has been based on a three part reality/illusion construct which when understood moves us closer to a true awareness of ourselves. Let me illustrate this point.  Let us regard the outer physical or inner world environments (the outer aspect of them) which we share with other sentient beings as level 1 of the reality/illusion construct. We already are quite familiar with the manifold levels of illusion and created constructs that make up this world for we live in them everyday as father, mother, American, Canadian, black, white, etc. Each carries with it a distinct set of descriptors and represents a distinct state of consciousness.

Let us regard the Level 2 reality/illusion as the world within our own minds and imagination which we can experience by simply closing our eyes and going within on what ever plane we are working. However, also note that this same region is the place of transition, for we move from one plane to another through this doorway. Once there, we are again capable of experiencing the inner world into which we have been “transported” and our “private” world of inner visualization and imagination which continues to be the control station for movement and creation on what ever plane we are working. Once the picture or setting is chosen and we fine ourselves “there” participating or observing the experience, it unfolds on its own as a live drama that takes its own course.

Behind all of this is what we will call Level 3 or the still reality, the I Am, or the No Thing reality. This is what we are and is the beginning point for all creation emanating from us just as it is and was the emanating point for all creation coming from ALL THAT IS.   We can be aware of and experiences each of these levels on every plane until we move beyond planes into the pure state of No Thing, and experience the stillness the Oneness of the I Am state. From here we move into and out of various planes and levels of consciousness on our journey through existence. We experience the I Am state when we sit in contemplation pushing aside all images and fireworks associated with the inner experiences of light and sound, planes and personages. This is the awareness behind the inner experience that observes what is happening even as we participate in the activities taking place on a given plane. It is not unlike inwardly observing ourselves while doing things on the physical or even watching the thoughts that cross in front of the stream of our minds. This is the awareness that never leaves, that never sleeps, and that is always behind the experience, the illusion, never fully in it.

This then is the stillness, the pure state of consciousness that the HCS contemplation speaks about in the expression: “I rise about time and space into infinite spirit. In this center of pure consciousness, where all things [potentially] exist…”

Chapter 15 of Confessions the chapter on Dreams (which should more accurately have been described broadly as inner experiences) distinguishes between these many inner happenings. One of the most overlooked yet most common rationale for the generation of inner experiences –especially during the dream state—is the need for balancing. We see this when we watch a movie, drama or news story that leaves us hanging, unsatisfied with the ending or in some similar state of consciousness. The higher self works with these states to balance our emotional energies so that we can awaken refreshed and feeling renewed for the new day. This is accomplished in many varied ways. First the drama may be extended beyond the story line written by the author and played out to a “satisfactory” conclusion. Or, people and characters from our past may find their way into the dream/inner experience/drama, with each character selected because of the emotional response they are known to evoke.

This is also the realm in which our inner experiences unfold based on the paradigm we have accepted and are living from at the time. I recall many excursions to inner temples and Eck seminars in the inner regions that conformed to my paradigm at the time. They appeared quite real and reinforced by belief in the power of the inner master. This is the basis on which so many still in Eckankar continue to hold on to the mahanta paradigm. It is the pre/trans fallacy that Wilbur wrote about which continues to support their outer belief. Those who continue to believe in this paradigm say, as I once did, “but I have my inner experiences.”  They do not understand the true nature of inner experiences and treat and interpret inner experiences with the same logic and afford the same credibility as with outer experiences. This is the basis of the pre/trans fallacy and the basis on which Paul’s fabrication persists. This fallacy is also the basis for testimonials about the army of Varagi masters, and indeed even Harold’s astral library that was so supportive of Paul’s plagiarism.

These were useful inner configurations for a while, but their reality became a distortion of truth. If this is difficult for true believers to accept, they have only to look at the detailed inner experiences recorded by Forsyth, included in Confessions, or those of James Davis in the Rosetta Stone of God to see just how real yet self delusional these inner experiences can be. There can be no better or more conclusive evidence of how our inner experiences can deceive when given the same weight as our outer experiences, than the recorded experiences of these to writers. Many “masters” who are aware of these principles actively and intentionally foster deception among their followers because it sustains their power and their position. This is the point that Baba Faquir Chan made so forcefully in his writings. Thus, when Harold Klemp saw the direction of Forsyth’s record of inner experiences taking a turn south, questioning his direction as a spiritual leader, he was quick to label them the work of the negative power. But when they were favorable, as in the case of Davis’ Rosetta Stone of God, he was quick to embrace and tout them as validation of his position.

The ability of our higher selves to generate full life like inner drama’s is so phenomenal that it is little wonder that the mythology fostered by unscrupulous or self delusional spiritual leaders is accepted and substantiated by our own inner faculties. This is the illusion that adherents of all religions hold on to, for it sustains them and provides a basis for and reinforces belief. Shattering the myth of Jesus, the mahanta, Buddha or any other deity can indeed be a traumatic price for the truth-seeker to pay. But when he/she is ready, it is the price that every soul must pay before it can move to the next level in its spiritual unfoldment; recognition that the higher self is the inner master, the mahanta, God-soul or by any name one might use.  But here is the dilemma; the individual never knows whether they are ready for the truth until they are exposed to it. If they have a clear sense of its contents yet turn away not wanting to know more, then they aren’t ready for the next step and should remain where they are. But, when they are truth-seekers and the truth has simply been systematically kept away from them, then it is only exposure to the truth that permits the seeker to make this critical spiritual decision.

Once the paradigm that supports a particular belief structure is dropped, inner experiences also tend to stop or at least change their makeup, direction and tenor.  The higher self now realizes that these images no longer hold the same power. I now experience meetings with others at HCS Gatherings in the inner worlds that are as real as any experiences I have ever had inwardly or in the physical world. Similarly, I have received many e-mails from others who have recounted experiences with HCS now and as it exists in the decades ahead. These encounters are, of course, quite exciting to experience or read about from others but they must be seen for what they are: experiences created by the higher self which reinforce our new paradigm and are therefore a useful matrix from which to teach, inspire or balance.  They can also be projections onto the future time track presenting a picture of a possible alternative reality that might very well out picture in the physical world at some point. All are possible interpretations, but the final determination of the meaning is always left up to the individual working with inner communication from the higher self.

As indicated at the start of this writing, there is no simple answer to determining who is doing what or to interpreting and defining where one is or what one is experiencing in the inner worlds. It is indeterminate and incapable of the precision that we are fortunate to experience in the physical world. However, I hope these observations on the nature of inner experiences will be helpful as a starting point in answering the many questions of the seeker.

We are given the gift of insight using the tools of introspection and inner exploration. It is most efficacious to start from the point of No Thing and to keep in mind that the principles we observe on the physical have parallels within. Remember, “As above so below = As below so above.” This is a key to deciphering the code of our existence.
